In an inspiring effort to guide youth toward international academic and professional success, the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, through its Professional Development Avenue, launched the latest edition of Scholastic Coach, Scholastic Coach 4.0. This year, the project unfolds in two impactful phases: “Beyond the Borders” and “Hustle Stories” — both designed to help students explore global career pathways and gain real-world insights into studying abroad.

Phase 01: Beyond the Borders – A Study Abroad Fair

The first phase of the initiative, titled “Beyond the Borders,” was a vibrant Study Abroad Fair held on-campus at the Lobby Area of Sri Sumangala Mansion, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The event took place on 12th of December 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and witnessed a strong student turnout eager to explore their academic future beyond Sri Lanka.

These expert organizations offered personalized consultations, guidance on university applications, scholarship opportunities, visa procedures, and more. Students had the opportunity to interact directly with consultants and gain clarity on choosing the right path to achieve their educational and career goals abroad.

Phase 02: Hustle Stories – Real Journeys, Real Voices

Following the fair, the project transitions into its second phase: a captivating YouTube video series titled “Hustle Stories.” This series is centered on powerful real-life stories from individuals who have succeeded in the global arena.

Hosted by Mandapa Pandithage and Denathi Pussegoda, each episode offers a window into the personal and professional challenges faced by Sri Lankan youth abroad — from cultural adaptation and academic pressures to career breakthroughs. These stories aim to inspire and equip viewers with practical insights and motivation as they pursue international ambitions.

Scholastic Coach 4.0 initiative by the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura directly contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. It aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting access to global academic opportunities and providing guidance on higher education abroad. It supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by equipping students with the knowledge and pathways needed to pursue meaningful careers on an international scale. The project also addresses SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by making information and mentorship accessible to all students, regardless of background, and encouraging inclusive success stories. Furthermore, through collaborations with educational consultants and partner organizations, the project advances SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering multi-stakeholder cooperation to expand global opportunities for youth.

Together, Beyond the Borders and Hustle Stories mark a significant step forward in Rotaract’s mission to cultivate globally minded professionals. By bridging local talent with international opportunities, Scholastic Coach 4.0 serves as a catalyst for transformation, growth, and fearless ambition.
