On the vibrant afternoon of July 31st, the Science Auditorium of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura echoed with enthusiasm, laughter, and fresh energy as the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura (RACUSJ) proudly hosted the project Aloha ’25, warmly welcoming all the newly joined members of RACUSJ for the RI year 2025-26! This was the first phase of the membership intake event under the “I’m a Rotaractor” initiative, organized by the Membership Development Committee and Club Service Avenue.

With over 100 passionate participants filling the venue, the event started at 3:30 PM, setting the tone for an inspiring journey ahead. The air was buzzing with anticipation as Rtr. Taneesha, our vibrant host, took the stage and captivated the crowd. One of the highlights of the day was the official logo reveal, unveiled with elegance and grandeur, instantly grabbing everyone’s attention.

Our very own President Rtr. Nethmi Bandara extended a heartfelt welcome to the audience, delivering a motivational speech that lit a spark in every aspiring Rotaractor present. The floor was then passed to Sergeant-at-Arms Rtr. Renish Perera, who introduced RACUSJ, its Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and the 9 dynamic avenues for the RI year 2025/26. This was not just an informative session, but an interactive one that filled the hall with laughter, engagement, and genuine excitement.

The energy in the room stayed alive as Rtr. Banula Dulen, joint director of the Membership Development Committee, stepped up to welcome the most-awaited drama performance. With smooth teamwork and heartfelt acting, the talented Drama Circle of the Flair Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura took the audience on a journey full of emotion, music, and meaning. For a moment, the whole hall fell silent, not out of boredom, but because everyone was truly moved. As the performance came to an end, a warm round of applause filled the hall, appreciating the effort and message shared by the team.

As a token of appreciation, each participant received a thoughtful gift, marking their first step into the Rotaract family with warmth. The event drew to a close at 4:45 PM, with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the Secretary Rtr. Manushi Rathnayake, who echoed the spirit of the day in her closing words.

But the day didn’t end there. As smiles lingered and hearts brimmed with newfound purpose, the EXCO, BOD, and new members gathered for a group photograph, to capture laughter, unity, and the beautiful essence of what it truly means to be a Rotaractor.

From strangers to a community, from curiosity to commitment—Aloha ’25 wasn’t just an event; it was a beginning!
