The Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura took another step forward in their attempts to promote community services through their participation at the Drug Awareness Campaign – Walk and Kite Festival 2017, held in Negambo on the 12th of August. The event was organized by the Presidential Task Force on Drug Prevention and Kite Sri Lanka in collaboration with Rotary, Rotaract and Interact RIDistrict 3220.
The walk commenced at the Negambo town and covered a distance of 3 Km before concluding at the Negambo beach. This year the walk was based on the theme “A Drug Free Country” which highly concentrated on conveying the message on prevention of drug abuse to the public. Our own Rotaractors covered the said distance while featuring slogans against drug abuse, thereby communicating to the society the message about the harmful effects of drug addiction.
The walk was eventually followed by a kite festival at the Negambo beach where our Rotaractors joined our fellow Rotaractors who too gathered to witness the event with kites voicing against drug abuse with the objective of raising awareness on this national scale issue. The Rotaract Club of USJP looks forward to contribute more toward such worth wile efforts in their future endeavors while “Engaging Rotaract and Redefining Friendship”
