The morning of July 31st 2022, marked another milestone for the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, with the most awaited Transition Meeting scheduled to take place at 10 a.m.
The meeting commenced with Rtr. IPP Minushi De Silva, the Outgoing President of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the Rotary International Year 2021-22, welcoming the gathering and then the National Anthem and the Rotaract formalities were followed.
Outgoing Secretary for the Rotary International Year 2021-22, Rtr. Rukshini Gomis then presented the annual report where she mentioned the noteworthy projects done by the six avenues and the three committees of the club and thanked everyone for their support.
Following this was the address by the Outgoing President Rtr. IPP Minushi De Silva where she thanked everyone who supported her and her team. Special mentions were made about the Senior Treasurer and the Guide club coordinator of her year. Rtr. Minushi also spoke of some significant moments during her year and wrapped up by congratulating the new president. She then passed the collar to Rtr. Madushan Dananjaya, the Incoming President of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the Rotary International Year 2022-23, who while welcoming the guests and participants alike, simultaneously thanked the previous office bearers for their outstanding performance. He also revealed the theme for the upcoming year, which is ‘Lead to Sustain, Lead to Inspire’.
President for the Rotary International Year 2020-21 Rtn. Rtr. PP Amasha Sirimanna then took over, praising Rtr. IPP Minushi and her team for a job well done. She wrapped up by thanking everyone and congratulating the new office bearers.
Rtn. Rtr. PP Amasha Sirimanna was succeeded by the Guide Club Coordinators of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the Rotary International Years 2021-22 and 2022-23, Rtr. Charith Rajitha and Rtn. Rtr. PP Lafraan Lahir respectively, who shared their valuable thoughts and good wishes for a great year ahead. Dr. L. A Pavithra Madhuwanthi, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Administration, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce as well as the Senior Treasurer for the RI year 2021-22 then spoke a few words highly appreciating the work done and the progress of the club during the years she worked with the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Following her, Dr. Asha Nimali Fernando, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy and Psychology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as the new Senior Treasurer of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the RI Year 2022-23, spoke enthusiastically about looking forward to the upcoming year.
The meeting was successfully wrapped up with the vote of thanks by the Incoming Secretary Rtr. Gagani Gunasinghe for the Rotary International Year 2022-23, who thanked the participants and the guests for their time and contributions. Another era of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura concluded with the transition where a new team took the wheel to take the club to greater heights.
