Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited but imagination enhances the world. So without creativity, there would be no progress and we would be forever repeating the same patterns. The Membership Development Committee of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura always tries to improve the interpersonal relationships among Rotaractors and to create a general platform to strengthen their team spirit.
The project had two phases aimed to encourage the creative and artistic capabilities of the Rotaractors as well as testing their problem-solving skills and general knowledge.
In the first phase, an art competition was organized under the theme “Depression is not a weakness”. Registrations for the art contest started on the 16th of April 2023 and continued until the 23rd of April. Out of the drawings that we received two of the Rotaractors were selected as the winner and the runner-up for having and inspiring us with great creativity and artistry. The winner of the contest was Rtr. Chalani Fernando and the Runner-up was Rtr. Esandi Hansika. The purpose of this phase was to give an idea to the Rotaractors about mental awareness and also to improve their creativity and artistry.
The second phase of the project was the exhilarating Brain Teaser Challenge filled with Sudoku puzzles, general knowledge, and mind-bending critical thinking questions which was held online on the 30th of May 2023. Many Rotaractors participated in the challenge and it was a great and enjoyable event for the participants. The winner of the Brain Teaser Challenge was Rtr.Yezeed Yehiya. The aim was to reduce the academic stress of the participants and enjoyably use their critical thinking power.
The project was successfully concluded by giving the participants a fresh experience as well as by providing a platform for them to express themselves creatively and make use of their critical thinking power. We thank every individual who participated and contributed in numerous ways to make this project a success.
