What is Love?
Can we truly define it?
Can we capture its essence in words and declare that, “This, is Love!”?
And yet,
Why do we love?
Why do our hearts tether to them people?
Is Love born from reason, or do we craft reasons to justify its existence?
Disclaimer!
I’m just a 22-year-old, navigating my way through life and figuring it out as I go. I’m no Aristotle to expound on philosophies of Love, nor do I claim any wisdom beyond my experiences. This article is simply my perspective, shaped by my feelings, observations, and reflections—especially those that have emerged in the past few eye opening months. (Just…don’t come at me if something I’ve written sounds stupid!)
Love,
is vast and intricate as the cosmos, no dictionary entry or poetic verse can encapsulate its depth. It is elusive, fluid, and deeply personal. While one may describe it as an overwhelming affection, another may see it as a profound connection. The truth is, Love isn’t descriptive; it’s perspective. So, let’s take a moment to reflect on ourselves: what does Love mean to you?
Love,
for some, is the tender warmth of a parent’s embrace. For others, it’s the thrill of catching someone’s smile across a crowded lecture hall. It might be the silent understanding between lifelong friends or the comfort of knowing that someone’s happiness is tied to yours. Hence, Love is of infinite forms, yet profoundly singular in how it feels to each of us. But, why do we love? Do we need a reason, or do we find one to justify the intensity of our feelings? I think, that Love begins without reason or logic. It springs from the heart, not the mind. And yet, over time, we attach meaning to it, perhaps to make sense of its mystery. And we love not for what we gain, and Love ain’t no trade, it is freely given with no any expectations of it being returned,
For Love,
Is gifted, not rewarded.
Love,
is found in the little things from remembering their favorite book, cheering for their dreams, to being there when they need you the most. At its core, I believe Love is when you root for someone’s well-being, even in their absence. It’s not about possession or expectations; it’s about wishing the best for them, unconditionally. Love is selfless yet enriching, gentle yet powerful.
Love,
however, is not always easy. It challenges us to be vulnerable, to risk pain and disappointment. It teaches us patience and forgiveness, and it requires courage—courage to give, to receive, and to let go when necessary.
For Love,
is not perfect, as it involves us, imperfect beings, “humans”. But it is in our imperfections that love becomes real, raw, and transformative. And to truly love someone or something is to embrace the imperfections, their light and shadows. Love is not a destination but a journey, one that evolves and grows with time.
For Love,
Is not constant but is consistent,
And as we navigate this journey, we come to realize that Love’s beauty lies in its authenticity cuz It’s not about fitting into a preconceived notion about what Love is, but its about creating a connection that feels uniquely yours.
And Love,
is not a puzzle to be solved but an experience to be cherished. It is more about giving than it is about receiving. It’s not confined to romance; it lives in friendships, kinship, and even within ourselves. And while we may struggle to define it, we can always recognize its presence.
Hence Love,
is not meant to be understood but to be felt. And in feeling it, we find our truest selves.
