The Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura successfully held its November Monthly Gathering, organized by the Professional Development Avenue, bringing together members, prospects, and guests for an evening centered around fellowship, appreciation, and the spirit of Thanksgiving.
November is universally known as a month of reflection and gratitude, and this theme beautifully resonated throughout the entire gathering. From the opening words to the final remarks, the event highlighted the importance of appreciating the people who uplift, support, and inspire the RACUSJ family.
The gathering commenced with a heartfelt welcome, followed by the National Anthem, Flag Salutation, and the solemn Rotaract Invocation. The audience then joined together for the Rotaract Song, strengthening the unity and fellowship of the club.
Setting the tone for the evening, the host introduced the Thanksgiving theme, emphasizing the value of gratitude within Rotaract and how the club continues to thrive through teamwork, leadership, and service.
The gathering featured two key speeches, Rtr. Nethmi Bandara, President of RACUSJ, who shared insights on the club’s ongoing updates and Rtr. Milni Vihansa, Assistant Secretary, who offered the last gathering report. This was followed by avenue announcements from all nine avenues highlighting the club’s next month procedures and its continued commitment to service, leadership, and fellowship.
As part of celebrating gratitude, the gathering recognized exceptional dedication through a series of monthly awards:
- Rotaractor of the Month – November (Nominees and Winner)
- Rtr. Savindi De Silva (Community Service Avenue)
- Directors of the Month – November
- Rtr. Kulaji Patabandi (Community Service Avenue)
- Rtr. Pasnidu Liyanage (Environmental Service Avenue)
- PR Member of the Month – November
- Rtr. Chanidu Attanayaka(Environmental Service Avenue)
- Editorial Member of the Month – November
- Rtr. Sarith Kovilage(Environmental Service Avenue)
Each announcement was met with applause, reflecting the appreciation and encouragement that RACUSJ continuously cultivates among its members.
The meeting was then officially concluded by the President, Rtr. Nethmi Bandara, who invited everyone for refreshments, where the entire gathering came together around one dining table, shared grace, and enjoyed a simple meal to strengthen the family bond. Adding to the warmth of the evening, members took part in a small activity inspired by the “Thankful Turkey,” writing what they are grateful for in Rotaract on a turkey-shaped figure. With heartfelt conversations, shared laughter, and renewed fellowship, everyone spent their time meaningfully and left feeling more connected than ever.
The evening concluded with a sincere Thanksgiving message, reminding everyone of the importance of appreciation, unity, and service, emphasizing that Rotaract is not just an organization but a family bound by shared passion, commitment, and love for service. The gathering truly embodied the essence of Thanksgiving—reflecting on achievements, honoring contributions, and cherishing the community that makes RACUSJ a home for all its members.
