Commencing another year of Rotaract, the Club Service avenue of the Rotaract Club of university of Sri Jayewardenepura organized yet another successful workshop named ‘I’m a Rotaractor’ which was held on the 5th of August at NFC 4 of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. With the motive of providing a thorough understanding of the club and its nature, the workshop commenced with a morning session of learning what Rotaract is while the evening session was a treasure hunt which was a platform for our Rotaractors to showcase their synergism and teamwork skills.

The morning session started off with an interactive session conducted by the Immediate Past President Rtr. Samudya Amarasinghe. He shared his experiences as a Rotaractor and a basic understanding about ‘Rotaract’ including the history, achievements, projects of our club and further information about the Rotaract District 3220. This was followed by another exciting session which was conducted by the current President Rtr. Oshani Singappuliarachchi who took us through every nook and cranny of how to handle a project. It was indeed a very uplifting session and was topped off by grouping the participants which gave them the chance to come up with new project ideas applying the tips given by the President.

The morning session concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to IPP Rtr. Samudya Amarasinghe for simply accepting our request and sharing his experience with us amidst his busy schedule.

The much anticipated evening session was a ‘Game of Thrones’ themed treasure hunt which all the rotaractors were eagerly waiting for. There were different challenges assigned by directors around the university premises and our Rotaractors were able to enhance their team working skills. It also strengthened the bond between the Rotaractors by the end of the day. The winners were presented with gifts and a final challenge of singing nursery rhymes which marked the conclusion of the workshop with a sing along.

The Club Service team should be appreciated for organising an event of such caliber to bring the new members of the club together and sharpen their knowledge about the movement of Rotaract. Our heartiest gratitude should be extended to the Executive Board and our Senior Treasurer Ms. Disna Nanayakkara for being supportive and ensuring the smooth flow of events throughout the workshop not forgetting our very own Rotaractors for the true determination and commitment showed to ‘Be empowered to empower’.
