For the first time in the history of the Rotaract club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura a Carrom tournament named, “Carromania” was organized by the Club Services Avenue for all the Carrom enthusiasts in the University. This fun filled event was held on the 21st of October at the University Gym. About 20 of our very own Rotaractors took part in the competition. The Club Service avenue organized this event as a manner of strengthening the bond between the members of our club.

The competition was held under Open & Boys Categories. The President of the Club, Rtr. Oshani Singapuliarachchi kicked-off the event by taking part in the first match of the competition. Many breathtaking matches took place thereafter as both amateurs & skilled carrom players combined to team up in the Open category matches. After storming through the initial stages, the Team of Rtr. Lochana Pathirana & Rtr. Nishan Auranga and the Team of Hasitha & Rashmi qualified to the final of the Open Category. After Three thrilling rounds the team of Hasitha & Rashmi emerged as the winners of the Open Category.

The Competition became even more exciting as the Boys Category matches started. Scintillating Carrom moves & skills were on display in almost every match that took place. The competitors took part in such enthusiasm as some matches took ages to determine a winner as every team was determined to win and never wanted to give up. After many rounds of matches, the team of Rtr. Nishan Auranga & Rtr. Asira Abeywikrama and the team of Jayamal & Insham qualified for the final. The team of Jayamal & Insham emerged as the winners as they won 2-0 in the finals.

“Carromania” concluded leaving us with plenty of memories for everyone. A special appreciation goes out to the Organizing Committee and the Club Service Avenue for putting up an event of such calibre and our Executive Board for assisting them in every way possible to make this event a success.
