I’m a Rotaractor 2019, the annual orientation for the rotaractors of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, was successfully held on the 20th of July at the University premises, which was conducted with the aim of strengthening the bond between the existing club members and to welcome the new members to the club while providing a thorough understanding of the club and its nature of operations.
Morning session of the event kicked off with the active participation of nearly a hundred participants, who interacted in a variety of fun filled activities such as; “feet off the ground”, “find the location” etc. The activity session was followed by the welcome address done by the year 2019-20 President Rtr. Vidushith Jayasundara. He shared his experiences as a rotaractor and gave a basic understanding about what Rotaract is.
Next in line was the introduction of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors for the year 2019-20 of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Furthermore, the Avenue Directors educated the participants of the orientation programme about the avenues that could be pursued by the new members.
The afternoon session was graced by the presence of the DRR for the year 2019-20 Rtr. PP Krishan Balaji, who emphasized the importance of being a rotaractor and how he applies the values gained through Rotaract in real life situations. Further, Guide Club Coordinator Rtr. Naduni Madumali, who also attended the programme elaborated on the impact rotaractors could have on the society.
The session also included many other bonding activities which were both entertaining and fun-filled. The latter part of the orientation entailed awarding prizes to the teams who won the respective fun activities and awarding certificates to all the participants of “I’m A Rotaractor” citing the conclusion of yet another successful milestone for RACUSJP.
