Youth Entrepreneurship Summit 2019 (YES) organized by the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura concluded on a successful note on the 17th of February 2019 at the Trace Expert City, Colombo with the designation of the Next Best Entrepreneur who unveiled the most outstanding and innovative business approach. The 1st Runners up Ishini Kuruppu shared her thoughts on how “YES” enlightened her journey to establish her startup as follow.

Ishini Kuruppu – Founder and Owner of AESIR & VANIR (Clothing Line)

“Becoming an entrepreneur at a young age can be challenging when there would be endless doubts about taking the first step. That’s the exact reason as to why I found the Youth Entrepreneurship Summit organized by RACUSJP to be the right spot. We get to challenge our own ideas and initiatives.

Getting through the initial rounds and making it to becoming one of the six finalists, of course, gave me mixed feelings. As much as I was excited to represent my own brand I was nervous about having to pitch on my idea in front of five amazing and successful entrepreneurs with a crowd behind. But I took my chance with YES because my instincts told me it was going to be a good one. It sounded like the right place for me to put my idea out there. This competition definitely showed me the value of my brand and the heights I can take it to.

I was really glad to have the opportunity of being able to present to top business tycoons and them sharing their expertise was definitely something to gain from. Having to hear that they sense great potential in my brand still works well in motivating me to work harder and will continue to. Not to miss out, the Youth Entrepreneurship Summit was the right place for me to connect with people as a startup. My network has been building ever since, taking AESIR & VANIR to better places.

I could say that the most important thing YES made me realize is to always take a chance because there’s little to lose and more to gain.”

We as the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura wish Ishini more power and passion to reach the top of her business venture.
