The Open Mic Night which was organized by the team “Ayubowan Sri Lanka” of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura was successfully concluded on the 18th of October 2019 at Java Lounge, Barnes Place, Colombo 07. The whole episode was organized mainly for the purpose of raising funds for the foremost project “Ayubowan Sri Lanka” which is an initiative organized with the objective of promoting tourism in Sri Lanka and regaining its lost position in tourism due to security issues.

This grand episode commenced at 6 p.m. with the welcome speech by the Chairperson of the project “Ayubowan Sri Lanka” Rtr. Navodya Kannangara. Afterwards, the night started to dazzle with the performances of more than ten young talented artists. Thakshila Vidanapathirana, Ruvin Perera, Hiruni Sanjana, Sheron Rukshantha, Dakum Jayamanne, Shanali Abeysinghe, Jerome Hanan, Tharaka Deemantha, Sajana Warakagoda, Chamod Peiris, Sachini Dissanayake were the young talented stars from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura who came up with their performances during the event.

The comic, vocal impersonators “Samare and Samare” added the utmost humor to the event which made the audience experience a great deal of satire.

The District Rotaract Representative Rtr. PP Krishan Balaji and the District Rotaract Representative-Elect Rtr. PP. Kavindra Kasun Sigera along with the members of the District Steering Committee were present at the event to witness this sensational night.

The guest artist Ms. Senali De Silva made the audience mesmerised with her wonderful voice.

At two different sessions of the event, the mic was open to the audience. The volunteers from the audience who showed up to showcase their talent in singing were Tehara Jayawardane, Shanaka Jayasekara, Ishini Athukorala, Kavindya Weligalle and Sachithra Rahul.

In the middle of the event, intermission took place offering the audience the opportunity to taste a meal from our venue partner of the event: Java Lounge, Barnes Place. The Open Mic Night came to an end marking the most successful, entertaining and fund raising programme ever owing to all the rotaractors and non rotaractors who sacrificed their time and energy in order to make this subproject a success.
