The World Rotaract week falls every year during the week of 13th March. During this week Rotaractors worldwide commemorate the very beginning of this International Youth Movement; Rotaract, focusing on the day in which the first ever Rotaract Club was found. Likewise, the Rotaractors of University of Sri Jayewardenepura too celebrated this week.
For this year’s Rotaract week celebration, the Membership Development Committee of RACUSJ organized an incredibly wonderful project named “Viva La Rotaract”, where the members of the RACUSJ celebrated and cherished their journeys in Rotaract together. The project focused on spreading the true meaning behind Rotaract whilst giving the members amazing experiences and memories to last forever.
This project was carried out based on two phases. The first phase was a social media challenge. This challenge was to all our fellow Rotaractors to post a picture which portrays their most memorable day in Rotaract, in their Facebook pages, nominating their friends. The challenge was accepted by many of our Rotaractors. Numerous memorable posts were shared, outlining the fabulous, unforgettable moments throughout each of their Rotaract journey, by producing a vibe of reliving those amazing moments.
The second phase was about none other than a friendly meet up which summoned both past and present members of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, to create long lasting memories more and more together and to enhance the bond and the companionship between the members. The meet up was held on the 25th of March 2022, on a beautiful Friday evening, at the Rock House, Piliyandala, a glorious location with a peaceful atmosphere. The colorful lights and the gorgeous decorations added more beauty to this peaceful and graceful location which led to a glamorous evening. Needless to say that this gathering was beyond amazing and fun-filled, where our Rotaractors enjoyed themselves to the fullest!
The party commenced at around 6 pm with a warm welcome to the revelers, proceeding to immensely fun games such as Guess the song, Balloon Dance which were very entertaining. With the end of these fun deriving games, next came the pageants for both males and females which were very thrilling and exciting for all. Rtr. Thuvarakan Thumakandan was crowned as the Rotaract King of RACUSJ while Rtr. Niduli Abeysinghe was crowned as the Rotaract Queen of RACUSJ.
After dinner, gifts were distributed to the winners of the games and to the Rotaract King and Queen. Everyone was very thrilled and congratulated them with huge rounds of applauses. Subsequently the DJ session took place which filled the beautiful area with lovely music and famous, catchy songs worldwide, where the revelers danced the night out, enjoying themselves to the greatest extent. The party ended allowing the past and present Rotaractors of our Rotaract family at RACUSJ to have a fantastic night by making more and more cherishing memories. The night was indeed magnificent and truly memorable which delighted the members of the RACUSJ.
In other words Viva La Rotaract provided the opportunity to all RACUSJ members to create more incredible memories and to add them and more fun moments into their lives. Hence, needless to say that this project was absolutely successful which also gave the opportunity to our fellow members of RACUSJ to release their stress and to accept a moment of amazement for a change in their lives. The project ended successfully with the conclusion of this friendly meet up, with the hope of providing more and more marvelous and productive opportunities to our dear Rotaractors.
