“Literacy for all is an integral part of education for all, and both are critical for achieving truly sustainable development for all.” – Kofi Annan

Project Literato-Chapter 4 commenced on the 30th of April 2022, for the 4th consecutive year is a signature initiative by the International Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Our goal was to give children the chance to learn and develop so that they can grow up to be valuable and healthy members of their communities.

The project was conducted with the collaboration of International Rotaract clubs in a virtual platform. We reached out to International Rotaract clubs and requested them to conduct book donation drives and library renovations to a school or any other place in need with the help of donations collected from Rotaractors, non-Rotaractors and other well-wishers.

It was our aim to provide children an opportunity to improve their reading skills, immerse themselves in the lives of characters and to soar in their own imaginations.

Several International Rotaract clubs from various countries such as India, Bangladesh, and Nepal collaborated with us to carry out this project. We also managed to establish and maintain positive relationships with each of the participating clubs, who were eager to participate in our club’s future projects as well.

As we all know, the entire world is experiencing numerous educational issues as a result of the current situation. Hence, we believe that we were able to have a considerable impact on the education of underprivileged children and the improvement of their language abilities at every step of the project. The ultimate goal of this project was to contribute to the development of a person who is beneficial to society and the globe.

We are pleased to say that we were able to successfully conclude this initiative on the 31st of May 2022 on a global scale, cooperating with International Rotaract clubs to guide and assist the modern younger generation in improving their reading and literacy skills.
