The Monthly Gathering of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the month of December was held on the 22nd of December 2022 from 5.30 pm onwards at the NFC Hall No- 05 of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Rtr. Niluka Athukorala and Rtr. Prashan Liyanage, the Co-directors of the Finance Committee, organized the gathering for the month of December.

With great enthusiasm, Rtr. Savindu Wijetileke welcomed all the members who were present in the room. Following the Rotaract formalities, Rtr. Madushan Dananjaya, the President of the Club addressed the gathering and gave the members a good understanding of the club’s current situation and what needs to be done in the future. Then Rtr. Gagani Gunasinghe, Secretary of the Club, read the meeting minutes, and the minutes were proposed in order by Rtr. Malithi Fernando and seconded by Rtr. Anjula Udishan. The directors then gave updates on their respective Avenues and Committees.

Of course, it’s the Christmas season, and it won’t be fun without the Home Alone movie series. So, the “Guess the Answer” game was based on this movie series. The members were divided into two groups and each group were given 15 seconds to provide the answers. Then the winning group gave a challenge to the other team, which added a loud cheer among the audience.

After all of it, it was time to recognize the members for their commitment and hard work and Rtr. Gagani Gunasingha first announced the nominees for the Month of October and November as follows.  Nominees for the “Rotaractor of the Month – October” were Rtr. Savindu Wijetilleke⁩  from the Finance Committee, Rtr. Pramodi Shanika from the Membership Development Committee and Rtr. Minodh Manuditha from the Community Service Avenue; and for “Rotaractor of the Month-November”, Rtr. Supun Rasanjana from the International Service Avenue, Rtr. Dinusha Prasad from the Public Relations Committee and Rtr. Amali Wasana from the Environmental Service Avenue. Then Rtr. Gagani declared the “Rotaractor of the Month – October” as Rtr. Savindu Wijetilleke and “Rotaractor of the Month – November” as Rtr. Dinusha Prasad. Everyone applauded and appreciated their victory.

To break the momentum, another surprising game was awaiting the members, and it was the hat pass game. With the Christmas songs being played in the background,  everyone was hyped up, and it was a really fun moment for all as it brought a lot of fun and happiness.

Slowly the night came, and it was time to head back home. The meeting was successfully concluded, bagging tons of beautiful memories and with new hopes for the upcoming new year.
