The Monthly Gathering of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the month of March was held on the 25th of March 2023 from 7.00 pm onwards via the Zoom platform. Rtr. Madara Bowattage and Rtr. Risira Weerasuriya, the Co-directors of the Sports and Recreational Activities Avenue organized the gathering.

Rtr. Rashmi Niyangoda started the meeting by welcoming all those present with a beautiful quote said by Puss In Boots; “Realizing what you already have can change the way you view the world around you”. Following the Rotaract formalities, Rtr. Madushan Dananjaya, the President of the club addressed the gathering. He invited all members to continue supporting the initiatives of the club and give their best in the upcoming months.

Later he invited Rtr. Yezeed Yehiya, to share his RYLA experience with all those who were present at the gathering. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a two-day program to mould the next set of leaders in Rotaract. This year, it was held on the 11th and 12th of March 2023 at the MAS Fabric Park, Thulhiriya and was organized by the Rotary Clubs of Badulla, Colombo Infinity, Kandy and Moratuwa. Rtr. Yezeed excitedly shared his experience at RYLA along with key lessons he learned throughout the program. According to him, RYLA is a great platform to develop oneself to be an all-around leader.

After that secretary, Rtr. Gagani Gunasinghe read out the meeting minutes, and it was proposed in order by two members. The directors of the respective avenues then presented their avenue updates and reminded the members to join the projects.

Next came the most interesting part of the evening. The ‘Guess the Answer’ game was based on the movie; “Puss in Boots; Last Wish”. The winner of the game was announced subsequently, and the members were praised for their active participation.

Afterwards, the nominees for the ‘Rotaractor of the Month-February’ were announced. Rtr. Dinuki Perera from the Public Relations Committee, Rtr. Anushki Tharuka from the Community Service Avenue and Rtr. Savinduni Dahanayake from the International Service Avenue were named as nominees for the ‘Rotaractor of the Month’. Rtr. Gagani Gunasinghe, the club Secretary, declared the ‘Rotaractor of the Month-February’ as Rtr. Dinuki Perera, and was congratulated by everyone for her remarkable achievement.

The meeting successfully concluded around 8.00 pm marking the end of another great evening.
