Ladies and gentlemen, gather around! It’s time to celebrate yet another remarkable milestone in the history of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Can you believe it? Twelve extraordinary years have passed since this incredible club came into existence. Today, let’s take a walk down memory lane of the RI year 2022-2023 and relive the remarkable achievements and unforgettable moments that have defined this exceptional organization.

Imagine, if you will, the humble beginnings of our club. Like a seed planted in fertile soil, the Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura sprouted with a vision of service, leadership, and friendship. From day one, our members poured their hearts and souls into nurturing this club, establishing a strong foundation that would withstand the test of time.

Throughout the years, we have carried the torch of service, illuminating the lives of those in need. Our journey has been adorned with numerous projects and initiatives aimed at uplifting the underprivileged and making a positive difference in society. Whether it was the impactful Diviyata Diviyak 2.0, the empowering Someone’s Daughter Volume 5 and Rise up Sri Lanka 3.0, or the heartwarming For Them to Blossom 5.0, our endeavours have left an indelible mark on countless lives. From organizing educational programs to conducting health camps and championing environmental causes, we have been the catalysts of change.

But our club’s mission does not end with service alone. We firmly believe in the potential of the youth to shape the future. Through a plethora of initiatives, we have dedicated ourselves to empowering young individuals, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complexities of the world. From the transformative leadership development programs to the enlightening career guidance sessions and workshops, such as Scholastic Coach 2.0, Strive 2.0, Be Professionally Equipped 5.0, and Yes ‘23, we have paved the way for personal growth and professional success. Amidst an ongoing economic crisis, we have gone above and beyond to provide necessary skills through projects like Finsight 3.0 and ITEX ‘23, ensuring that the younger generation thrives against all odds.

For us, health and well-being are not mere afterthoughts; they are the cornerstones of a thriving community. We have embraced this belief and acted upon it. Through engaging global campaigns like Health a Plenty 2.0, we have raised awareness about the importance of self-care and inspired individuals to prioritize their well-being worldwide. And when it comes to staying physically fit and mentally strong, we have gone the extra mile by organizing thrilling sports events like Triunfo, Carromania 2.0, AMIGO and 4 Score 5.0, ensuring that the youth lead active and vibrant lives.

Our impact extends far beyond the boundaries of our local community. We have fostered connections with Rotaract clubs from around the world, igniting the flames of global cooperation and cultural understanding as well as enhancing peace and harmony while also fighting against discrimination towards the LGBTQIA+ community. Through unforgettable international projects such as PRIDE 2.0, and Heal the World 2.0 and through cultural exchanges like Cultura we have built bridges of friendship that transcend borders. Together, we are breaking down barriers and working towards a more harmonious and inclusive world.

But we don’t stop there! We are champions of creativity, passionate about nurturing the artistic talents that lie within our youth. Through platforms like Literato Chapter 5, Design Warrior 3.0, insightful and captivating blog articles published through the Official Blog of RACUSJ, and the mesmerizing first edition of “MERAKI,” presented by the Editorial Squad of RACUSJ, we have celebrated the beauty of self-expression and creativity. And who can forget the joyous Comic Fest, where the community came together to revel in the wonders of creative entertainment? We have unleashed the imagination and creativity of young minds, sparking a fire that will burn brightly for years to come.

In our pursuit of service, we have not forgotten our duty towards Mother Earth. We recognize the urgent need to protect our planet and have undertaken meaningful projects like Build Green, Animalia 3.0, Growing Green 4.0, Aquatica Wave 3, and Zero Waste. By taking responsibility for our environment, we are shaping a sustainable future for future generations. It is a noble mission that we hold close to our hearts.

And let us not forget the unbreakable bond we share with our parent organization, the Rotary Club. Together, we have joined forces in joint initiatives, mentorship programs, and collaborative projects that amplify our impact. The Rotary-Rotaract bond has grown stronger over time, guiding us towards a unified and impactful approach to service.

As we stand here today, celebrating the closure of the 12th chapter of the Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, let us applaud the exceptional young individuals who have dedicated their time, energy, and passion to make a difference.
