“I’M A ROTARACTOR” was organized by the Club Service Avenue in collaboration with the Membership Development Committee of Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, with the objective of expanding the membership base of RACUSJ and enhancing participants’ comprehension of the club’s ethos and the overarching principles of the Rotaract movement.

The first induction of the quarter initiative swung into action with the first phase, themed with the reminiscent of Spiderman’s agile and inclusive spirit. Held on August 5th, 2023, at the Botany Auditorium of the Applied Science Faculty, the induction aimed to attract new members while offering a comprehensive understanding of Rotaract and its nine avenues. The Organizing Committee of the first phase comprised the board of directors, who initially operated in separate teams but seamlessly collaborated on the project’s execution day. In the inaugural phase, the event opened with esteemed guest speakers, whose words resonated with wisdom and inspiration. The event buzzed with engaging presentations and interactive discussions, inspiring attendees to embrace the Rotaract family ethos, fostering a culture of service and camaraderie within the community. As newcomers mingled, the air buzzed with excitement for the outdoor games ahead. Laughter echoed across the venue as participants engaged in friendly competition, vying for prizes that awaited the victorious. Amidst the camaraderie, refreshments flowed freely, providing a welcome respite and fueling conversations that sparked new friendships.

In the second phase, akin to the resilience of Big Hero 6, the project adapted to virtual settings. Convening on October 30th, 2023, via Zoom, the project team meticulously planned and executed to educate newcomers about the Rotaract avenues and procedures as virtual awareness sessions. The virtual arena buzzed with excitement as dynamic breakout rooms were set up. Participants found themselves immersed in a whirlwind of virtual games, each room pulsating with energy as Assistant Directors, Directors, and Executive Committee members fueled the enthusiasm with their infectious spirit. The seamless collaboration among directors and OC members ensured a smooth event execution.

The third phase, centered around the “Kung-Fu Panda” theme, seamlessly incorporated two key elements. The initial component of the third phase, a day trip to Thalpe and Galle on January 27th, 2024, served as a catalyst for nurturing community and camaraderie among both new and experienced Rotaractors. Set against the backdrop of Thalpe’s scenic beaches and Galle’s historic fort, participants engaged in various beach activities, fostering laughter, teamwork, and genuine connections. From water balloon fights to ball games, the event encouraged individuals to relax and forge lasting relationships while providing a platform for sharing experiences and aspirations, thereby enhancing the overall sense of community and inclusion within the organization.

Transitioning seamlessly into the second component of the thirdphase on February 18th, 2024, at the Science Auditorium of the Applied Science Faculty, the induction day aimed to attract new members by offering insights into the Rotaract journey and the club’s operational dynamics. Attendees learned about the nine avenues of the club and their contributions to community service and personal development. The interactive and informative speeches delivered by past Rotaractors provided invaluable insights into the transformative power of Rotaract in enhancing individuals’ skills and capabilities. These sessions provided a valuable opportunity for newcomers to learn from the experiences of past members, demonstrating how being part of Rotaract can help in personal and professional development. Additionally, the inclusion of fun and interactive games at the first meeting created an environment where attendees could easily make new friends and connections. Through engaging presentations, participants were empowered to join the Rotaract family, fostering a culture of service and camaraderie. Led by Assistant Directors of the Avenues, the Organizing Committee ensured the project’s success by managing logistics, finances, public relations, and editorial tasks.

The “I’m A Rotaractor” project successfully wraps up with a sense of achievement and teamwork. From start to finish, everyone worked together to grow the Rotaract family and promote a culture of service and friendship. Through talks, discussions, and fun activities, everyone got involved in a journey of growth and connection. As the project concludes, it leaves behind a legacy of empowerment, friendship, and community impact, showing the power of working together towards a common goal.
