The Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura recently embarked on an innovative and engaging project titled “Spotlight.” This project aimed to introduce the board of directors to the club members through a captivating video series, offering a unique glimpse into the personalities and roles of each director.

The Concept Behind Spotlight

Spotlight was designed to foster a deeper connection between the club’s leadership and its members. By showcasing the board of directors in a personal and relatable manner, the project sought to build a sense of camaraderie and transparency within the club. Each video in the series featured two to three directors from various committees, providing insights into their roles, characteristics, and dynamics with their co-directors.

 Structure of the Video Series

1. Introduction of Directors: Each video began with the directors introducing themselves. This segment allowed members to learn about the background, interests, and motivations of the individuals leading the club. Directors shared their journey within Rotaract, their academic pursuits, and personal hobbies, painting a comprehensive picture of who they are beyond their titles.

2. Describing Co-Directors: Following the introductions, directors were asked to describe their co-directors. This part of the series was particularly engaging as it highlighted the unique characteristics and strengths each director brought to the table. Directors often shared anecdotes and personal stories, illustrating the camaraderie and teamwork that define their collaborations.

Impact and Reception

The Spotlight video series was met with enthusiasm and appreciation from club members. By humanizing the board of directors and shedding light on their roles and personalities, the project successfully bridged the gap between leadership and membership. Members reported feeling more connected to the directors and more informed about the club’s operations and initiatives.

The series also served as a motivational tool, inspiring members to become more actively involved in the club’s activities. Seeing the dedication and passion of the directors encouraged many to take on more responsibilities and contribute to the club’s mission.
