Avurudu Fest 2024 which is organized by Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura on the colourful morning of April 27. The grounds near Kale kade came alive with the colours, sounds, and fragrances of tradition. This celebration, full of cultural diversity and a strong sense of community, demonstrated the club’s dedication to promoting student togetherness and honouring Sri Lankan heritage.
Students flocked to the brightly adorned location as the sun rose, excited to take part in the celebrations. An incredible afternoon was in store as traditional avurudu music filled the air with a mix of excitement and expectation, as well as the smells of Sri Lankan traditional cuisine.
Avurudu Fest featured a variety of activities, including traditional Avurudu games like balloon dancing, cap passing, balloon passing, and Avurudu kumara and kumariya performances in addition to colourful cultural displays. The chance to fully experience the sights, sounds, and flavours of Sri Lankan culture allowed attendees to bond with one another and make lifelong memories.
