In the dynamic landscape of higher education and career pursuits, students often find themselves at a crossroads, grappling with the challenges of academic rigor, extracurricular engagements, and the daunting prospect of shaping their future careers. Recognizing the need to provide guidance and support to undergraduates on this journey, the Professional Development Avenue of the Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura launched the transformative initiative, “Scholastic Coach 3.0.”

From its inception, “Scholastic Coach 3.0” has been driven by a mission to illuminate pathways towards higher education and meaningful careers for the talented minds thriving within the university’s embrace. Through a meticulously planned series of phases, the project has endeavored to equip students with the necessary skills, insights, and resources to navigate the complexities of academic life and professional pursuits.

First phase of the initiative kicked off with a compelling PR campaign, featuring short videos led by former Rotaractors who shared their experiences and insights on balancing academic commitments with extracurricular endeavors. Figures like Rtr. Srinath Udayachandran, Ms. Hasini Aamanda, and Ms. Bhagya Ranasinghe eloquently conveyed the profound impact of involvement in extracurricular activities, emphasizing the holistic development that comes from striking a balance between academic rigor and personal growth.

Building on this foundation, second phase introduced a webinar series titled “Study Abroad,” aimed at exploring postgraduate study opportunities in leading destinations such as the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Led by industry experts like Mrs. TA Priyangani Fernando and Meshach Lindon, these webinars provided invaluable guidance on various aspects of pursuing international education, from admissions processes to scholarship opportunities and financial planning. Participants were empowered to turn their aspirations into tangible achievements, armed with the knowledge and strategies necessary for successful international studies.

Phase 3 of the initiative shifted focus to career guidance, offering online webinars aimed at equipping participants with essential skills for professional success. Sessions on overcoming stage fear and mastering public speaking, led by Sandharu Ferdinando, and strategies for successful job interviews, facilitated by Madhushan Keerage, provided invaluable insights and practical guidance for career advancement. By attending these sessions, students not only gained confidence but also developed crucial skills essential for navigating the competitive landscape of the professional world.

Through its multifaceted approach, “Scholastic Coach 3.0” has emerged as a beacon of guidance and support for undergraduates at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. By addressing the holistic needs of students, from academic excellence to career readiness, the initiative has empowered individuals to chart their paths towards fulfilling and impactful futures. As students continue to benefit from the resources and opportunities provided by “Scholastic Coach 3.0,” the project stands as a testament to the transformative power of mentorship, community engagement, and the pursuit of lifelong learning.
