“It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.”

-Mother Teresa-

Home is the first place we are met with the word “Charity” in a practical sense. It is something more than mere kindness. It is the spontaneous overflow of our sense of “humanism”.

Until the 19th century, charity was largely established due to bequests made in the will of rich merchants and charitably minded others. As a result, many towns have alme-houses for elderly people and many schools were established due to charitable bequests in that era in European countries. Correspondingly, every year, charities all over the world help to save and improve people’s lives, fight disease, protect children, and give hope to thousands of people.

The United Nations voted in 2012 to designate an annual “International Day of Charity” as an official day of recognition and celebration to celebrate the significant work that these numerous charities undertake. The chosen day was selected especially because it is the death anniversary of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

Charity is vital because it allows us to aid those who are most in need of our support by reaching out to a broader segment of society. This explains the significance of the International Day of Charity. It spreads knowledge about charitable giving and the value of lending a hand to people in need.

The purpose of the International Day of Charity is to promote social responsibility globally, strengthen our support for humanitarian issues, and unite people in unity. We have a fantastic opportunity to participate in charitable events across the world on this day.

We can plan to engage in some social work when we lead a balanced life, since it brings us everlasting enjoyment. We may thus participate in the International Day of Charity in several ways. On the International Day of Charity it’s worth checking to see if any activities are being held by the many organizations in your community and your favorite international charities. If not, you can decide to plan a charitable event on your own. Events that raise money are always praised. All you need is a concept that each member of the community can collaborate on.

It’s not very hard when we are involved in it with our whole heart. It is the reason fun races and bake sales are so successful. Of course, you don’t need to organize an event to fundraise; there are plenty of other ways. For instance, you may sell a particular product or craft and give a portion of the sales to a charitable organization. And also, you might spend time studying other charities. There are several charities with a wide range of issues around the globe. This includes groups that support people with certain health issues, animal shelters, elders, mental health charities, homeless charities, etc.

Today is the day, so take a step forward and grasp your opportunity to make someone happy. That will make you a whole person with happiness!
