Ceylon Fest 2.0 was a signature cultural initiative organized by the International Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with the aim of celebrating and preserving the rich heritage and traditions of Sri Lanka. The project was successfully conducted at Glayze Cafe on 28th May 2026, bringing together culture, creativity, art, music, and heritage on one vibrant platform. Mr. Sudath Abeysekara, former Chairman of the National Crafts Council, graced the event as the Chief Guest of Ceylon Fest 2.0. His inspiring address and active engagement added immense value to the event.
The project was designed to create an immersive cultural experience where participants could explore the true essence of Sri Lankan heritage through interactive activities, traditional workshops, artistic expressions, and entertainment sessions. Ceylon Fest 2.0 focused on creating meaningful engagement and hands-on experiences for participants while promoting local culture and creativity through pottery and mask painting workshops.
A variety of cultural workshops and sessions were organized throughout the event. These included pottery making and mask painting sessions, traditional arts and crafts activities, coffee sipping experiences, and the vibrant Baila Kapiringya session which highlighted the joyful spirit of Sri Lankan musical culture. Participants were given the opportunity to actively engage in these experiences while learning about the historical and cultural significance behind them.
The event also featured informative cultural showcases and awareness segments related to Sri Lankan heritage. Traditional puppet art, known as “Rukada Natya,” was highlighted as one of the unique cultural elements celebrated through the project. It was a privilege to have Kala Keerthi Gamwari Premin Gurunnanse, Master Artisan and Living Pioneer of Sri Lankan String Puppetry, as a part of Ceylon Fest 2.0 with his remarkable demonstration of Rukada Natya. His contribution added authenticity and cultural value to the event while providing participants with a meaningful and memorable experience of Sri Lankan traditional puppetry.
In addition, the project was honored to have the support of the Kithul Development Board and Miss G. U. Gayani, Chairperson of the board, who shared valuable insights through a meaningful demonstration related to Sri Lankan heritage and traditional industries. Through these activities, the project aimed to encourage appreciation for local traditions among the younger generation while creating awareness about preserving cultural identity.

The event venue, Glayze Cafe, provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere for participants, while sponsors and collaborators contributed towards making the project more engaging and memorable. The success of the project was made possible through the dedication and teamwork of the organizing committee members of the International Service Avenue together with the support of the Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The active participation and enthusiasm shown by attendees greatly contributed to the vibrant and energetic atmosphere throughout the event. The project was attended by a total of 39 participants, including members of the Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura as well as representatives from several other Rotaract clubs.
In addition, the project welcomed external club participation, including one participant from the Rotaract Club of Colombo Metro, two participants from the Rotaract Club of Colombo Heritage, and one participant from the Rotaract Club of Archivers. Their presence added diversity, fellowship, and inter-club engagement to the event experience.
Also, the event was honored by the presence of several distinguished representatives from the Rotaract movement.

Finally, Ceylon Fest 2.0 successfully achieved its objective of celebrating Sri Lankan culture while creating unforgettable memories and experiences for all participants. The project served as a meaningful platform to unite people through culture, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who took part in the event.
