The Monthly Gathering of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura (RACUSJ) for December 2024 embraced the festive spirit with a captivating theme, “Falling Snowflakes in Winter Christmas.” Held virtually via Google Meet, the gathering brought Rotaractors together for an evening of fellowship, recognition, and celebration despite the physical distance.
The event was coordinated by the Professional Development Avenue of RACUSJ, with Rtr. Nethmi Bandara serving as the enthusiastic moderator for the evening.
The gathering commenced with the traditional Flag Salutation, the Rotaract Invocation, and the Rotary Four-Way Test, reflecting the values and unity of RACUSJ. Club President Rtr. Akila Weerasuriya then addressed the attendees, sharing updates on the club’s recent achievements and setting the tone for the evening.
Following this, Club Secretary Rtr. Nithara Dias provided comprehensive updates on the club’s avenues, showcasing the progress and milestones achieved in December.
The avenue announcements that followed showcased the diverse range of activities across different committees, each presenting their unique contributions and future plans. These updates highlighted the hard work and dedication of every avenue, reflecting the club’s commitment to driving impactful initiatives.
One of the most anticipated moments of the evening was the recognition of outstanding members. The “Rotaractor of the Month” award was presented to Rtr. Nisula Seekkubaduge, celebrating his exemplary contributions to the club. Additionally, the “Directors of the Month” award was shared by Rtr. Hafsa Omar and Rtr. Ifrah Riyas, acknowledging their exceptional leadership and commitment to the club’s activities. A special mention went to Rtr. Dulan Pramod, who was recognized as the “Public Relations Member of the Month” for his remarkable contributions to the Public Relations Avenue.
Adding a touch of holiday cheer, the gathering featured a lively game of “Who Am I?” which resonated with the festive theme. Moderated by Rtr. Nethmi Bandara, the game engaged members in a fun and interactive activity, fostering camaraderie and excitement.
The celebration concluded on a joyful note with heartfelt birthday wishes extended to members celebrating their birthdays in December. This moment of unity and goodwill encapsulated the essence of RACUSJ’s fellowship, even in a virtual setting.
