Today, when we hear the word technology, we immediately think of Artificial Intelligence, and of which one of the most known tools is ChatGPT, which OpenAI develops. Because it is currently employed in all industries worldwide and is rapidly improving, however, many versions of AI do not differentiate between fact and fiction and cannot verify the information it uses. Instead, ChatGPT responses are generated based on patterns and correlations found in large datasets of human language, which may include information from academic and other sources. The opportunity to regulate the pool of information that ChatGPT uses as its sources has already elapsed and it is entirely responsible for generating its ingested content.

Media Literacy ChatBot, a ChatGPT system, acknowledged in a recent interview that there are issues with its existing information collection mechanism. One drawback is that AI learns from the data it is given; therefore, biased data will also make the AI prejudiced. This is known as the bias in the data that AI is programmed on. The fact that AI can only process the data that is provided to it and might not be able to identify links or patterns in other sets of data is another drawback. Furthermore, adversarial assaults, in which malevolent parties purposefully alter the input data to trick the AI model, can be used to undermine AI algorithms.

Media literacy, which now includes ChatGPT, is a critical thinking ability based on understanding the structure of media communications and their intent. Increased critical thinking, accuracy, accountability, and transparency may result from the GPT system’s direct integration of media literacy concepts and techniques. This might reduce some of the negative effects that the dissemination of false information and misinformation may have.

Implementing media literacy principles into AI systems for information collection and dissemination may have the following benefits: it may promote critical thinking; improve accuracy and dependability; improve natural language processing; encourage accountability and transparency; and foster cross-cultural understanding. To make sure that its system meets these objectives, including updating the chat with the most recent information and research findings regularly, continuously improving its ability to evaluate content objectively, keeping an eye on user feedback and engagement, and training the AI model with accurate and reliable data. AI may also include functions like an automated Fact Check, a citation list, and information category identification that let people understand the content produced by AI technology.

In conclusion, as we are now doing our daily activities based on AI technology there should be media literacy to make our work accurate without having bias, misinformation, or disinformation issues. So, AI systems that include media literacy concepts might aid in the fight against the spread of misinformation by educating users on how to be more critical consumers of information.
