The most beautiful part about pouring our time and energy into friendships is that not only do friends help enrich our lives, but we enrich theirs too. Great friendships always result in a big boost to team performance, as teammates who become friends come to truly value each other’s skills and traits. In our Rotaract family, although the bond between the board of officials of the club is built upon a huge set of responsibilities, that bond never fails to bring endless joy and excitement. Here, presenting to you are the minds behind the 12th chapter of RACUSJ, who have been putting their efforts into taking RACUSJ to the next level through teamwork.

Rtr. Madushan Dananjaya

He is the leading figure, the President, who guides the 12th chapter of RACUSJ to achieve great things within an atmosphere where Rotaractors could feel safe and loved when engaging in their passion and doing their best to achieve the club goals. Receiving his education at WP/KE Deshmanya H.K. Dharmadasa Vidyalaya up to his O/Ls and completing his A/Ls at Karunarathne Buddhist Maha Vidyalaya, currently, he studies as an undergraduate at the Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. His journey to becoming the Club President for the RI Year 2022–23 was pretty interesting. His dream to serve back the society and to step out of his comfort zone, made him join the Rotaract movement which ultimately led him to be the 12th President of the club.

A fan fact about him is he has a sweet tooth and would waste no time tasting all the sweets coming his way. He is good at behaving according to the situation and tolerating any hardship that comes his way with a beautiful smile. Despite all of that, he is blessed to look younger than his age. Born on the 29th of January, 2000, he currently resides in Peliyagoda. He is skilled in dancing, drawing, graphic designing and video editing and enjoys his free time watching animated movies and TV series and playing any sport.

Rtr. Minushi De SIlva

She was the driving force behind the success of the 11th year of RACUSJ, an era which had achieved numerous awards and prestigious nominations under the Club’s name. Rtr. Minushi was the President of RACUSJ for the RI year 2021–22 and currently is the Immediate Past President for the RI year 2022–23. She always tries her best to help those in need and loves seeking ways to constantly improve her persona while learning from her own mistakes as she goes. She enjoys taking on challenges and setting goals for herself continuously, so she has something to work toward. Born on the 6th of August, 1999, she currently lives in Nugegoda. She was educated at St. Bridget’s Convent and currently follows the degree B.Sc. (Physical Science) in Information Communication Technology at the Department of Computer Science, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

A fun fact about Rtr. Minushi is that she is quite introverted but has a good sense of humour and a movie buff. She has the ability to deliver nice speeches to larger audiences wonderfully and is a skilled writer, singer, artist and swimmer.

Rtr. Ravindu Lakshan

This excellent individual has completely understood his role as a Vice President of the club, and he has been a great help in guiding the club to greater heights. Rtr. Ravindu was born on the 23rd of December, 1999 and resides in Galle. He was educated at Mahinda College, Galle, and currently studies at the Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

He has many skills, including graphic designing and video editing and he is one of the most talented video editors in our club. He was awarded the “Best Video Editor” at Splendour’22, which was organized by the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. His free time activities include watching movies, listening to music, and reading.

A fun fact about Rtr. Ravindu is that he is a die-hard fan of cricket and a cool, simple guy with a good sense of humour. He always has the urge to go on new adventures.

Rtr. Supun Thilakarathna

Rtr. Supun Thilakarathna is one of the Vice Presidents of the 12th year of RACUSJ. He is honest, independent, and a dedicated person who wants to complete whatever he does perfectly. He never fears expressing his honest opinions at times when they matter the most. Nevertheless, he is a friendly and caring leader and a flexible team player as well. Born on the 28th of May, 1998, he lives in Gampaha. He was educated at Udugampola Primary School and Ananda College, Colombo and studies at the Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences, as a 3rd-year undergraduate. He has been good at sports like cricket and badminton ever since he was in school. Not only is he good at sports, but also at writing, graphic design, and video editing. “Writing at least one novel one day” is a dream that he is willing to fulfil in the future. His skills have been a great help to our club in many ways.

A fun fact about Rtr. Supun is he loves listening to foreign-language songs (English, Spanish, and Romanian), and he is interested in geography and travelling as well. His knowledge of roads and shortcuts is mind-blowing. Because of this, he is called a living Google map.

Rtr. Gagani Mandula Gunasinghe

Being the Club Secretary is no easy task. However, this talented young individual managed to achieve her tasks while balancing her work life. Rtr. Gagani is a very passionate Rotaractor and a fun-loving extrovert who always tries to look at the bright side of everything and everyone, adding ‘laughing-out-louds’ here and there. She currently lives in Kottawa and follows degree of B.A. (Hons) in English at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of English and Linguistics at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She is indeed gifted with many aesthetic talents, including singing, acting, writing, dubbing, playing the piano, etc and loves playing badminton. Rtr. Gagani was born on the 12th of April, 1999 and was educated at Musaeus College Colombo 7, Sri Sumangala Girls’ School Panadura, and Lyceum International School Panadura.

A fun fact about Rtr. Gagani is that you will be always greeted with loud giggling for she loves laughing out loud. If you are to meet her at any Rotaract gathering, you better look for her at the place where the food is. Because her ultimate life motto is “Smile, eat, and continue Rotaract while you still have teeth!”.

Rtr. Anjula Udishan

Rtr. Anjula is the Treasurer of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the RI year 2022–23. As an undergraduate in the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, he manages all the monetary-related work in the club efficiently. Rtr. Anjula was born on August 27, 2000. He resides in Galle and was educated at Vidyaloka College, Galle. Rtr. Anjula was selected as the best cadet team member of the Southern Province when he was involved with school cadetting. He is a very humble person with an upbeat personality, and he loves singing, acting, and writing, as well as playing sports like volleyball and cricket and travelling with his friends.

A fun fact about him is you can find him anywhere at any time in the university with a bunch of friends. And also he loves to take photos a lot. Nevertheless, he is someone who always tries to offer help to those in need.

Rtr. Malithi Fernando

Rtr. Malithi Fernando, the Editor of the club, is the hardworking, silent individual behind the massive social media coverage of RACUSJ, who makes sure that the club has always spread quality content to its audiences. Born on March 6, 1999, she currently resides in Colombo. She studied at Ave Maria Convent, Negombo, and follows the degree B.A. (Hon.) in Teaching English as a Second Language at the Department of English and Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. After becoming a Rotaractor, she has engaged in numerous projects of the club and was able to win the award for “Best Team Player” at Splendour’22, organized by RACUSJ in the year 2022. At the same award ceremony, she was nominated for the “Best Leading Figure” and won the silver award for the “Most Creative Blog Article” of the year.

A fun fact about her is her laugh is inaudible and though she seems silent and introverted, she can be the craziest once you become closer to her. She loves to meet new people and enjoys travelling, reading, writing, and watching movies in her free time, especially crime and horror. She is dedicated to her tasks and always wants to complete them, no matter what, to her fullest capacity.

Rtr. Keshan Sooriyaarachchi

As the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Rtr. Keshan maintains discipline, peace and harmony inside the club very well. Born on January 2, 1999, he lives in Nugegoda and was educated at Ananda College, Colombo. He follows the degree B.Sc. (Hons.) Polymer Chemistry at the Department of Polymer Science and Technology of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and he is also a volunteer researcher, freelancer, business owner, and co-founder of Levitate. lk. So, he would be the perfect example of managing time effectively and professionally.

Rtr. Keshan was a brilliant athlete and he is skilled at graphic designing and video editing too. He is a down-to-earth individual who is passionate about helping others and spreading happiness. A fun fact about Rtr. Keshan is he is always down for a good anime binge or a long gaming session in his free time and loves to cook and try new dishes. He is also an animal lover and passionate about taking care of them which made him step forward in protecting the environment and the creatures that call it home.

Rtr. Dilki Madushika

Rtr. Dilki Madushika is the Director of Club Service Avenue of the 12th chapter of RACUSJ. She is very good at post-editing, graphic designing, and article writing. She was born on the 15th of October, 1988 and she lives in Matara. She was educated at Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara and currently studies at the Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. 

Some fun facts about her are she is fond of learning karate as a sport and loves spending time with cats & dogs, cooking and travelling, and sharing memes on Facebook 24×7 are her hobbies. For her, every moment is a dining time. Rtr. Dilki is an outgoing, optimistic person who always tries new things. She loves challenges. She is determined, independent and knows what exactly she wants in life. She believes that everything happens for a good reason and that tomorrow is a new beginning in life. 

Rtr. Kavindu Kokila

Rtr. Kokila is the Co-director of the Community Service Avenue of RACUSJ for the RI year 2022-23. Born on the 27th of December, 1998 he resides in Veyangoda. He was educated at Bandaranayake College, Gampaha and now studies at the Department of Food Science & Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences of University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

A fun fact about him is he loves travelling more than anything and would happily take up the role of the Organizer of anything if it involves travelling. He loves Cricket as a sport and spends his leisure time watching movies or travelling somewhere for fun. Rtr. Kokila has a joyful, talkative personality. He is a good leader who would put all of his efforts into the betterment of the team.

Rtr. Sehani Perera

 Rtr. Sehani is the Co-director of the Community Service Avenue of the 12th chapter of RACUSJ. Born on the 04th of October, 1998 she resides in Piliyandala. She studied at Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo and she is an undergraduate of the Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences of University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

A fun fact about Rtr. Sehani is that she is very talkative. She possesses multiple talents such as playing hockey, acting, writing and doing fashion as well as a skilled makeup artist. She loves watching movies in her free time. She is an easygoing, trustworthy friend who loves to complete the given duties to the fullest.

Rtr. Damindu Lakshan Randeera

A good joke always light-up the mood and increases engagement. It reminds us of no other person than him.

Rtr. Damindu is the Co-director of the Professional Development Avenue of RACUSJ for the RI year 2022-23. He was born on the 28th of November, 1998 and he resides at Padukka. He studied at Royal College, Horana and Ananda College, Colombo. Currently, he studies at the Department of Food Science and Technology of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Acting, writing, dubbing, graphic designing, video editing, athletics, and playing cricket are some of the talents he has. He was the chairperson of Project YES’22 organized by the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and that wonderful project was able to win the gold award in the 32nd Rotaract District Assembly.

A fun fact about him is that he always makes pranks, jokes and breaks the tension. There is no better icebreaker than him. He likes to interact with people and share his experience with them. He loves animals and nature. He has a funny, enthusiastic and self-motivated personality and is always helpful and a responsible person who we can rely on to get the job done.       

Rtr. Venuri Kasundi Vethma Mettananda

Rtr. Venuri is the Co-director of the Professional Development Avenue of the 12th chapter of RACUSJ. Born on the 14th of August, 2001 she lives in Malabe. She went to Musaeus College and currently, follows the degree B.A.(Hons) Psychology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. In the meantime, she has been working on many other degree programs to enrich her career path. Rtr. Venuri has been engaged in a lot of extracurricular activities also and has won numerous awards for her excellent performance in both academic and extracurricular work, ever since she was in school. Acting, dancing and writing are the most prominent skills she has but dancing is her passion and the love of her life. She is the Dancing Star of the university. Whether it is Baratha, Kandian or freestyle, she can stun the audience with her extraordinary dancing skills. She has been taking part in many events and occasions in our university up to date by dancing. Rtr. Venuri has a great ambition to become a psychologist and spread love, humanity, and kindness among people. She loves helping others, working together and enjoying every moment in life while making momentous memories. She is fond of participating in community service, volunteering, and social work. In addition to that, she really loves animals. Especially dogs. She doesn’t care whether it is a stray dog or not. As her life motto, she tries her best to live the life that she loves and loves the life that she lives.

A fun fact about her is that she is a chatterbox, yet a kind-hearted girl who could make new friends instantly. This extroverted girl can talk without breaks when she starts explaining something. When it comes to her duties, she treats them as the top priority and fulfils them no matter what.

Rtr. Kulasinghe Arachchige Anujini Kavinya Perera 

Rtr. Anujini is the Co-director of the International Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the RI year 2022-23. She follows B.Sc. Business Administration (Business Economics) Special Degree in the Department of Business Economics – Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Born on the 15th of May, 2001 she resides in Boralesgamuwa. She studied at Royal Institute International School up to her O/Ls and then completed her A/Ls at Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo. Her skills include drawing, swimming and playing badminton. She enjoys reading books, watching reality shows, listening to K-pop and drawing as hobbies. Her favourite movie of all time is Harry Potter.

A fun fact about her is that she is the Picasso in our Club. Her painting skills are truly insane! She is someone who is determined to fulfil her duties ASAP. Nevertheless, funny as it may sound, her favourite leisure time activity is none other than “just sleeping”. She is a hardworking introvert who is ready to take any challenge in life but many people think she is extroverted because she tends to make friends with anyone super quickly.  

Rtr. Yapa Appuhamilage Sandunika Samandini Jayasinghe

Rtr. Sandunika is the Co-Director of the International Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the RI year 2022-23. Born on the 04th of August, 1999 she lives in Gampaha. She studied at Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha and Yasodara Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha. Now she studies at the Computer Engineering Department in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She is gifted with a bunch of talents. Singing, writing, drawing, graphic designing, video editing and moderating are a few of them.

A fun fact about her is that she knows all fictional, anime and fantasy stories from Naruto to Harry Potter. Rtr. Sandunika is a kind-hearted, trustworthy friend who has a good sense of humour. She is a simple girl who likes to work with freedom and do more work related to art and the natural environment.

Rtr. Piumi Methma Palihakkara 

Rtr. Piumi is the Director of the Membership Development Committee of the 12th chapter of RACUSJ. Born on the 19th of February, 2000 she lives in Kadawatha. She went to Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo and currently, she studies in the Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She is skilful at dubbing, acting, writing and also at some sports like table tennis, badminton, handball and netball. She has school-level achievements in those sports. When she gets spare time, she prefers watching movies, tv series, and animes, listening to music and playing with her dog. Rtr. Piumi loves hiking and hanging out with her closest friends.

A fun fact about her is that although she is afraid of frogs, she is an extreme animal lover who thinks that even the life of a tiny animal on earth matters. She is the most kind-hearted girl you will ever meet and is a very dedicated person.

Rtr. Niluka Lakshan Athukorala

Rtr. Niluka is the Co-director of the Finance Committee of RACUSJ for the RI Year 2022-23. He was born on the 11th of November, 1999 and he resides in Colombo. Rtr. Niluka is an undergraduate of the Faculty of Management Studies & Commerce following a BSc. Finance (special). He went to Isipathana College, Colombo and he is extremely good at playing Cricket. Apart from being a talented cricketer, he is also good at singing, acting, dancing, drawing etc. Watching movies is something he enjoys a lot during his spare time.

A fun fact about him is that he is the entertainer of the group and he loves to go on adventures, party and have fun to his heart’s content. He is a fun-loving, free spirit who prefers being a diligent person.

Rtr. Prashan Indusara

Rtr. Prashan is the Co-director of the Finance Committee of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the RI year 2022-23. He is a committed, dedicated and truthful person who is very flexible and easy to work with. He is a hardworking soul who loves chasing his dreams every day with an open-minded attitude. Rtr. Prashan was born on the 26th of January, 1999 and he resides in Maharagama. He studied at Royal College, Colombo and now he studies at the Department of Food Science & Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is a dedicated tutor too.

A fun fact about him is that whenever he gets free time, he loves listening to songs, playing cricket and doing creative writing. He is a talented cricket player. Rtr. Prashan is someone who will go beyond his capacity to fulfil his responsibilities. He is the kind of friend who will be by your side when you are in need of support, without expecting anything in return. 

Rtr. L.P. Vidushi Kavindya Ovindee Pathirana

Rtr. Vidushi is the Co-director of the Environmental Service Avenue for the 12th chapter of RACUSJ. She was born on the 03rd of August, 1999 and she lives in Gampaha. She studied at Musaeus College and currently studies at the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She has a great range of skills that are useful for our Rotaract family. Compering, post-editing & caption-making are a few of them. She is really skilful at playing the piano too. She is interested in the field of architecture.

A fun fact about Rtr. Vidushi is that she loves watching K-dramas and rewatching all most all the drams she watches and never fails to share them with her friends. She is simple, laughs a lot, and loves to spend time peacefully with her pets.

Rtr. G.A.Parami Ranthilini 

Rtr. Parami is the Co-Director of the Environmental Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the RI year 2022-23. Born on the 12th of December, 1999 she resides in Pannipitiya. She studied at Vidyakara Girls’ School, Maharagama up to her O/Ls and completed her A/Ls at Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo. She is talented at singing, writing and drawing. She is a pro chess player who has won Colombo District- Best on Board 1 in 2008, Division B- best on Board 1 in 2010, Colombo District- best on Board 1 in 2011, Colombo district-Championship in 2014 at Sri Lanka Inter-School Team chess championship.  In 2012 she won the Colombo district Championship and in 2016 she won All Island- merit at Sri Lanka inter-school individual chess championship. In addition to these amazing achievements, she won the Western Province age group chess championship two times. This young talented girl is a skilled artist too. Currently, she studies in the Department of Forestry & Environment Science, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She is a caring, loyal friend who takes friendships very seriously.    

A fun fact about her is that at first glance, you might mistake her as a quiet, innocent girl since she minds her duties silently but she is the opposite of it. Her jokes and funny statements never disappoint us just like how her amazing vocals make us astonished. 

Rtr. Supun Tharaka Wijesiri

Rtr. Supun is the Co-Director of the Public Relations committee for the RI year 2022-23.  Born on the 05th of October, 2000 he lives in Padukka. He was educated at Royal College, Colombo and now he follows the degree B.Sc. (Hons) in Food Science and Technology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. His unbelievable skills in post-making, video editing and photography are truly a blessing to our Rotaract family. He was awarded as the “Best Graphic Designer” in Splendour’22, organized by the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

A fun fact about him is that he is a pro gamer and you would see him playing video games even the night before exams. He is very outgoing, and funny and he always tries his best to complete his duties at any cost while sparing some time for video games of course.

Rtr. P.M. Akila Salinda Srikantha

Rtr. Akila is the Co-director of the Public Relations Committee for the RI Year 2022-23. He receives a great deal of popularity among the club members for his amazing video editing skills. Born on the 04th of July, 2000 he resides in Kahathuduwa. He studied at Nalanda College, Colombo and he follows a degree in Physical Sciences (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics) at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is extremely talented at video editing, graphic designing, singing and drawing. He has won many certificates in various art competitions including “Nalanda සිත් රූ”.

A fun fact about him is he never misses an opportunity to make funny yet annoying memes out of his pals’ terrible photos. He has a lot of creative thoughts that unveil his imagination. Rtr. Akila always likes to be creative and guide his team to be their best versions. He is one of the most devoted and supportive individuals you will ever find in our club. Normally he is a funny guy and an annoyed one to his closest friends. But suddenly he has the ability to be the most emotional one among his friends. He loves spending his free time with activities including drawing pencil arts, singing, playing PC games, playing cricket, and watching movies & tv series. He has already drawn many of his classmates, and Uni mates on paper as drawing always makes him happy.

Rtr. Madara Bowattage 

Rtr. Madara is the Co-Director of Sports and Recreational Activities Avenue of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the RI year 2022-23. Born on the 08th of June, 2000, she resides in Kandy. She went to Girls’ High School, Kandy and currently, studies at the Department of Finance, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jaywardenepura. She is a talented table tennis player ever since she was a kid. She has won All island places in Table Tennis as well as awards in the school prize-giving. She plays table tennis even at the university and has accomplished many achievements. 

A fun fact about Rtr. Madara is that she loves to hang out with friends a lot and radiates her beauty as a proud descendant of Upcountry. Drawing and watching movies are her favourite leisure time activities. Rtr. Madara is an outgoing, dedicated and compassionate individual who is capable of achieving her goals even under the most fortuitous events. She is also independent, highly organized and enjoys working in group settings. She loves working on challenging projects which allow her to take risks and learn new things.

Rtr. Geeganage Risira Lakvin Weerasuriya

Rtr. Risira is the Co-director of Sports and Recreational Activities Avenue of the 12th chapter of RACUSJ. He is the sports personality of our club. Since he is good at a wide range of sports including Cricket, Billiards and Swimming, he can be often spotted at the university in various athletic outfits. Born on the 28th of August, 2000 and he lives in Kelaniya. He studied at St Servatius College, Matara and Mahanama College, Colombo. Currently, he studies in the Department of Sports Science, Faculty of Applied Sciences of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Although he considers himself someone who has no aesthetic talents at all, he is a talented cricket player undoubtedly. He has represented provincial levels in cricket matches several times. 

Rtr. Risira is someone who is always eager to learn something new. He is very efficient when it comes to fulfilling his duties in the club. He loves spending time with his gang. He is a generous friend, who loves to offer help anytime. 

As you can see the team behind the 12th chapter of RACUSJ is multitalented and is comprised of different personalities with different potentials. They were working hard throughout the year to bring change to society by leading to inspiring and sustaining the world we live in through relentless efforts and dedication. As the end of the 12th chapter draws closer the team wishes that RACUSJ will strive towards excellence in the coming years and become a force for change, a beacon of hope, and a testament to the transformative power of unity and service.
