FinSight 2.0 was initiated by the Finance Committee of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the second consecutive year to enhance financial literacy, manage personal finances, encourage personal savings, and eradicate the poverty of society. The project was commenced parallel to World Investment week 2021 as a platform to spread knowledge and awareness in the fields of share market investment and digital marketing. The project targeted to make an impact on undergraduates, young investors, entrepreneurs, and businessmen.

As the first phase of the project, there was an attractive PR campaign with a series of videos based on savings habits and poverty eradication demonstrating the importance of financial discipline, financial management, for both personal and relating to the business contexts and the importance of digital marketing to a company by the words of successful business leaders, famous entrepreneurs, and corporate personalities like,

  • Mr. Kishu Gomes, group CEO of Dreamron Group of Companies, successful entrepreneur.
  • Dr. Nirmal De Silva is an award-winning business leader, entrepreneur, and board director.
  • Ms. Nevindee Amarasinghe, the founder of good PR and Public Relations professional.
  • Mr. Fernando Raymond founder of ClickDo Ltd, a digital entrepreneur.

They shared valuable and insightful ideas related to finance, savings, and digital marketing to succeed in our PR campaign. Our PR campaign also consisted of informative blog articles about World Eradication of the International Day of Eradication of Poverty, World Savings Day, Cryptocurrency, and Financial Literacy.

As for the second phase, two workshop series related to Share Market Investments and Digital Marketing Strategies were organized with the collaboration of the Colombo Stock Exchange, Securities and Exchange Commission, and Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing.

The first workshop was conducted with the purpose of educating the participants on how to launch the CSE app with their own CDS accounts and its performances, how to choose suitable Stock brokering companies, price indexes of the share market, related rules, and regulations and the legal position of the Colombo Stock Exchange and Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka. This was completed with high appreciation with the active participation of more than 200 participants.

With the collaboration of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, the second workshop was facilitated by Mr. Adheesha Dharmakeerthi, who is the marketing manager of Dialog Finance PLC. He delivered interesting and interactive content about the digital marketing industry and strategies to more than 150 participants. Major topics like digital marketing strategies, social media marketing, the importance of the digital marketing platform, and how to run a campaign were some of the areas that were touched during this very informative session. We could conclude both series on a high note, with numerous positive and appreciated feedback.

The young and enthusiastic Rotaractors gave their immense support to ensure the success of the project, even on a virtual platform. The second chapter of project FinSight 2.0 could successfully conclude giving a high impact on the audience.
