The Monthly Gathering of the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura for October was held on the 24th of October 2024 from 5.00 PM onwards at NFC 5 Hall of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Organized under the captivating theme of “Spooky Halloween”, the gathering showcased the vibrant spirit & unity of the Rotaractors. The event was coordinated by the Finance Committee of RACUSJ, with Rtr. Renish Perera – Joint Director of the Finance Committee serving as the enthusiastic moderator.

The evening began with the National Anthem, Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation, Rotaract Four-Way Test & the renowned Rotaract Anthem. Following the opening, the Club President – Rtr. Akila Weerasuriya addressed the attendees, sharing updates on the club’s recent achievements, ongoing projects & future plans. This was complemented by an address from Club Secretary – Rtr. Nithara Dias, who provided detailed updates from all committees & avenues, reflecting the collective efforts & milestones of RACUSJ.

Rtr. Renish then facilitated the avenue updates, starting with Club Service & progressing through the avenues, concluding with the Sports & Recreational Activities Avenue. Each avenue showcased its unique initiatives & contributions, emphasizing the diverse impact of the club’s activities.

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of outstanding members. Rtr. Malsha Darmathilaka from the Sports & Recreational Activities Avenue was awarded “Rotaractor of the Month” of October, celebrating her exceptional dedication & achievements. A new initiative in recognizing the efforts of Public Relations efforts, the “PR Member of the Month,” was also introduced, with Rtr. Sevin Senaviratne receiving the well deserved recognition for his remarkable contributions.

Additionally, the “Directors of the Month” awards were presented by the Club President Rtr. Akila Weerasuriya to Rtr. Burny Zaneeta – Joint Director of the Community Service Avenue, & Rtr. Imandie Madansinghe – Director of Club Service Avenue, in acknowledgment of their hard work & unwavering commitment.

Adding a touch of fun & camaraderie, Rtr. Renish & Rtr. Onasha led a spirited game of Halloween-themed Charades, engaging all members in a lively & entertaining activity. The gathering concluded with the celebration of the birthdays of Rtr. Nithara, Rtr. Vindula, Rtr. Manushi & Rtr. Sandali, marked by heartfelt wishes & a moment of joy shared among the Rotaractors. A group photo captured the essence of the evening, showcasing the unity & enthusiasm of the RACUSJ family.

With the perfect blend of formalities, recognition & fellowship, the Monthly Gathering of October came to a memorable close, leaving attendees inspired & motivated for the months ahead.
