“If you want to be financially free, you need to become a different person than you are today and let go of whatever has held you back in the past.” — Robert Kiyosaki

“Finsight 4.0,” a project consisting of two phases, organized by the Finance Committee of the Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepurawas with the purpose of increasing beneficiaries’ awareness about personal wealth management and new aspects of youth entrepreneurship.

Effective personal wealth management and entrepreneurial skills are closely intertwined, forming a symbiotic relationship that can drive financial success. Entrepreneurial skills, such as strategic thinking, risk assessment, and innovative problem-solving, enable individuals to identify lucrative opportunities and create wealth-generating ventures. In turn, personal wealth management skills, including budgeting, investing, and asset protection, are essential for preserving and growing the wealth generated through entrepreneurship. A successful entrepreneur must not only generate income but also manage and optimize it to secure long-term financial stability and achieve their wealth-building goals. Thus, mastering both sets of skills is pivotal for anyone aspiring to thrive in the world of entrepreneurship and secure their financial future.

Therefore, there is no doubt that to overcome the economic crisis Sri Lanka faces, it must enhance entrepreneurship, teach the public how to manage their personal wealth, and provide them with insights on how to build up financial security. The reason why the country is running out of foreign currency and investments while having high inflation is due to the inefficiencies the government has in managing national wealth. Starting as an individual, it is great to be wise, advanced, and risk-bearing to overcome the matters we face.

The country needs young leaders who are willing to bear the risk, try to come outside of the typical thinking pattern, and make changes wherever they are working. As everyone is incapable of being an entrepreneur, the education system should focus on creating an entrepreneurial employee. To start over this, The Finance Committee, the club’s main body in charge of managing and making long-term financial decisions, decided to organize the project Finsight 4.0 for the fourth successive year to raise awareness on Personal Wealth Management and Digital Entrepreneurship.

The project’s phase one was held on the 19th of August at the NFC 05 mini auditorium, in the Faculty of Applied Science at University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Personal Wealth Management in the current economic condition was the subject of the phase one awareness program. Mr. Muralikanth – the Country Head of Business Risk Management for Retail Banking, at Standard Chartered Bank, Sri Lanka was the mentor of the session. His working experience as a Risk Manager and the practical implementations he did in his personal life in order to manage the wealth were genuinely great experiences for the participants.

The project’s phase two was held on the 2nd of September at the NFC 05 mini auditorium, in the Faculty of Applied Science at University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Digital Entrepreneurship using Artificial Intelligence Technology in the modern world was the subject of the phase two session. Mr. Pasindu Rathnasekara the Assistant⁩ Lecturer of the Department of Entrepreneurship, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, the Founder and director of Eclipse Motion (Pvt) Ltd, the Director – Eknil Agro (Pvt) Ltd, the Managing Director – Sipwin Group and the Managing Director – Eknil Homes (Pvt) Ltd was the mentor of the session. There was an interactive session after the introduction in which the participants practically engaged with activities using their digital devices.

Finsight 4.0 was successfully concluded with the commitment and hard work of the organizing committee and the valuable contribution of our sponsors. We would like to express our great gratitude to the official platinum sponsor of the project Finsight 4.0, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, for their contribution to making the project a success. We would like to express our great gratitude to the Official Gift Partner, Cactus Heaven Kottawa, for their contribution in sponsoring the resource person’s tokens. As the first project of the Finance Committee of RACUSJ in the Rotaract Year 2023–24, we believe the project ended up being a value-driven one and brought much energy and a good start to the Finance Committee. Last but not least, thank you to everyone who contributed in different ways to make the project a success.
