However, following the tragic circumstances caused by Cyclone Ditwah, the initiative took a meaningful turn. Recognizing the need for empathy and responsibility, the club decided to transform the celebration into a Christmas outreach for children in needโ€”turning a social event into a service-driven initiative.

On 18th January 2026, Rtr. Minuli, Rtr. Neha, Rtr. Randunu, and Rtr. Rashmi visited Pettah to purchase stationery items and sweets for the children. This preparatory step was made possible through the generous monetary contributions of many Rotaractors who collaborated wholeheartedly to support this one-phase initiative.

The main event was held on 19th January 2026 at St. Mathias Church, Moratuwa, where stationery items and sweets were donated to the children of Shikshadana Vidyalaya, Agulana. The event commenced with a warm welcome speech delivered by President Rtr. Nethmi Bandara, setting a compassionate and joyful tone for the day.

Beyond donations, the celebration was filled with laughter and meaningful interaction. Rotaractors spent quality time with the children by engaging in fun games such as Secret Pass, Simon Says, Musical Chairs, and Balloon Catch. A painting session was also conducted, giving the children a chance to express their creativity. Singing songs, playing games, and sharing moments of joy created a festive atmosphere that truly captured the spirit of Christmas.

The event was energetically compered by Rtr. Sihas, whose enthusiasm brought life to the celebration. The initiative was further strengthened by the support of our Official Beverage Partner, American Joozy, whose contribution added value to the event. Numerous Rotaractors joined handsโ€”through collaboration, participation, and financial supportโ€”demonstrating the power of unity and collective responsibility.

Memorable December 6.0 stood as a testament to adaptability, compassion, and teamwork. By choosing to transform a planned celebration into a meaningful service initiative, the Rotaract Club reaffirmed its commitment to serving the community and spreading joy where it was needed most.

Through empathy, collaboration, and a shared sense of responsibility, we were able to celebrate the true spirit of Christmas, making December not just memorable, but meaningful.
