The Monthly Gathering of the Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (RACUSJ) for March 2026 was held in celebration of “Iftar,” under the theme “A season of reflection and togetherness brings us closer once again .” The gathering brought Rotaractors together for an evening that beautifully embraced cultural diversity, gratitude, and unity, reflecting the essence of the holy season.

Organized by the Sports and Recreational Activities Avenue, this month’s gathering took place at Tango Restaurant, Boralesgamuwa, offering a refreshing and vibrant setting for the occasion. The event was gracefully compered by Rtr. Matheesha Wariyapperuma, who guided the evening with poise and energy.

The proceedings commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the Flag Salutation, the Rotaract Invocation, and the Rotary Four-Way Test, reaffirming the shared values and unity of RACUSJ.

The Club President, Rtr. Nethmi Bandara, then addressed the gathering, reflecting on the club’s progress, appreciating the dedication and teamwork displayed throughout the month, and specially recognizing the impactful PR campaigns of the Amigo 4.0 and Thala Rekawa projects. This was followed by the monthly administrative updates presented by Rtr. Manushi Rathanayake, who highlighted key activities, achievements, and ongoing initiatives across all avenues.

Representatives from each avenue then delivered brief updates on their recent projects and upcoming plans, showcasing the active engagement and collaborative spirit that continue to strengthen the RACUSJ community.

A key highlight of the evening was the appreciation segment, where individuals who made notable contributions were acknowledged for their efforts. The title of “Rotaractor of the Month” was awarded to Rtr. Mihiri Herath – Sports and Recreational Activities Avenue and Rtr. Dinithi Thathsarani – Public Relations Committee, in recognition of their dedication and active involvement within the club.

The “Director of the Month” accolades were presented to Rtr. Methsala Ariyarathna – Community Service Avenue, Rtr. Deneth Perera – Environmental Service Avenue, and Rtr. Buhuni Padmapriya – Sports and Recreational Activities Avenue, appreciating their strong leadership and commitment in driving their avenues forward.

Furthermore, Rtr. Sumudu Dissanayake was recognized as the “Editorial Member of the Month” for their creativity and continued contribution towards strengthening the club’s communications.

Adding a lively and engaging touch to the evening, an interactive game session was conducted where members mimicked public figures and iconic personalities familiar within the Rotaract community, while others guessed their identities. This fun-filled activity created laughter, strengthened bonds, and brought the gathering to an energetic close.

The evening concluded on a joyful note, filled with cultural appreciation, meaningful interactions, and shared moments of togetherness. The March 2026 Monthly Gathering successfully blended formal proceedings with cultural celebration, reinforcing unity and further strengthening the bonds within the RACUSJ family.
