A new Rotaract journey begins with a first hello, a shared laugh, and a room full of unfamiliar faces waiting to become familiar. On 5 August 2026, the Science Auditorium of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, became the meeting point for exactly that as the Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura (RACUSJ) hosted Aloha ’26 at 4.00 PM.

Marking the first phase of the “I’m a Rotaractor” initiative, Aloha ’26 brought together new members for an afternoon filled with interaction, entertainment, and opportunities to discover what it truly means to be a Rotaractor. The gathering created the perfect setting for participants to take their first steps into the RACUSJ community and connect with fellow members.

As part of the programme, President Rtr. Gaveshna Penalege introduced the participants to RACUSJ, its avenues, and the various opportunities available within the club. The introduction offered the newcomers a glimpse into the diverse experiences that await them, while encouraging them to become active and engaged members of the Rotaract family.

The atmosphere then took a creative turn as the talented Drama Circle of the Flair Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura took the stage with an engaging drama performance. Bringing together creativity, emotion, and entertainment, the performance captured the attention of the audience and added a memorable touch to the afternoon. As the final moments of the performance unfolded, the auditorium came alive with applause and appreciation for the talented performers.

But the excitement did not end there. Participants were soon brought together for a fun filled game that transformed the auditorium into a space of laughter, friendly competition, and enthusiastic participation. Everyone had the opportunity to interact with one another, enjoy the moment, and create new memories. Adding an extra element of excitement, three tickets to the Spider Man: Brand New movie were awarded to the winners of the game.

As the programme approached its conclusion, the participants gathered together to capture the memories of the day through photographs. The smiles and laughter reflected the connections that had been formed throughout the afternoon. Aloha ’26 stickers were also distributed among the participants as a small keepsake to remember their first Aloha experience.

The event concluded at 5:45 PM with the vote of thanks delivered by Secretary Rtr. Sasvi Hapuarachchi, bringing the afternoon to a meaningful close and expressing appreciation to everyone who contributed to making Aloha ’26 a memorable gathering.

Aloha ’26 was more than simply an introductory meetup. It was a chance to discover, connect, laugh, and take the first step towards becoming an active part of the Rotaract community.
