August brought a unique blend of energy, fellowship, and excitement to the members of the Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura as the club came together for its monthly gathering under an exciting Spider Man theme. Adding a creative twist to the usual proceedings, the gathering brought members together to reflect on the club’s achievements, share updates, and celebrate the dedication of its members.

The Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (RACUSJ) stepped into the new Rotaract International Year 2026–27 with enthusiasm and renewed spirit. Continuing this exciting new chapter, the club came together for its first monthly gathering of the year, held on 31st August at the SBFF Hall 1, commencing at 5:00 p.m. The physical gathering created a lively atmosphere as Rotaractors came together to connect, engage, and celebrate another successful month of club activities.

The gathering commenced with the customary Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation, and Rotary Four Way Test, symbolising the values, principles, and unity that guide the Rotaract movement. This was followed by a warm address from the Club President, Rtr. Gaveshna Penalage, who welcomed the members and shared important insights into the club’s direction and upcoming activities.

A key highlight of the gathering was the avenue updates, where representatives from all nine avenues presented their progress and shared updates on the projects and initiatives undertaken during the month. Each avenue also highlighted the projects currently in progress as well as the upcoming initiatives planned for the coming weeks. These updates showcased the diverse efforts of the club and the collective contribution of its members towards achieving the goals of RACUSJ.

Adding a special touch to the gathering, the dedication and commitment of outstanding members were recognised through the monthly awards. Rtr. Devni Thamodya and Rtr. Omanja Soysa, Joint Directors of the Public Relations Committee, were recognised as the Directors of the Month for their remarkable contribution and commitment. Rtr. Krishni De Silva was named Rotaractor of the Month, while Rtr. Sanju Roshini received the title of PR Member of the Month. The recognition continued with Rtr. Saduni Sandeepa being named Editorial Member of the Month. These appreciations celebrated the dedication, creativity, and valuable contributions of the members who continued to make a meaningful impact on the club’s activities throughout the month.

With the vibrant Spider Man theme adding an element of fun and creativity to the gathering, the August Monthly Gathering became more than just a platform for updates. It provided an opportunity for members to reconnect, appreciate one another’s efforts, reflect on the progress of the club, and look forward to the exciting initiatives ahead.

The gathering came to a cheerful close with a special birthday celebration for the members who celebrated their birthdays during August. The warm wishes, laughter, and shared moments added a personal and memorable touch to the gathering, further strengthening the spirit of friendship and fellowship among the RACUSJ family.

The gathering concluded on a positive and energetic note, leaving the members inspired to continue working together, embracing new challenges, and contributing towards another successful month for the Rotaract Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
